Vision Statement

The Counselling Department of MVM Senior Secondary School envisions a future where every student is empowered to lead intellectually, socially, and emotionally fulfilling lives and achieve success in all aspects of their personal and academic journey.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a supportive conversation between a student and a trained counsellor. A counsellor is a qualified professional who genuinely cares about students’ well-being.

The counsellor listens carefully to concerns, worries, and challenges, and helps students explore healthy ways to cope with and improve their situations related to:

  • Academic challenges

  • Personal or emotional concerns

  • Family-related issues

  • Stress management

  • Social or behavioral concerns

  • The counsellor may also suggest additional resources and guidance whenever required.

Who Seeks Counselling?

People of all ages and backgrounds seek counselling at different stages of life. Students may seek counselling when they need support, guidance, clarity, or someone to help them navigate difficult situations.

Do Students Use Counselling Services Often? Yes. Many students seek counselling support regularly. The counsellor meets students on a daily basis, and appointments are usually scheduled in advance.

Why Should I Seek Counselling?

Many students are surprised by how helpful counselling can be.

Is Counselling Private and Confidential?

Yes.

The counsellor has a professional and ethical obligation to maintain confidentiality.

Any information shared by students remains private and will not be shared with family members, school staff, teachers, or others without the student’s consent, except where safety concerns legally require intervention. Counselling discussions do not become part of academic records.

If you are going through a difficult time, talking to someone you trust can be very helpful.

You may seek support from:

  • Trusted mentors
  • Support systems play an important role in emotional well-being.

How Can Parents / Guardians Meet the Counsellor?

  • Parents and guardians are welcome to meet the counsellor.
  • To ensure availability, appointments should be scheduled in advance.
  • Parents may contact the counsellor through the school office via phone or email to arrange a meeting.

Meet Your Counsellor Ms. Renuka

Ms. Renuka is a highly accomplished Psychologist, Motivational Speaker, and Student Counsellor.

She conducts programs and workshops focusing on mental health, adolescent development, emotional well-being, and family counselling. Recognized for her expertise in adolescent psychology and family therapy, her passion for understanding human behavior led her to complete: Master’s Degree in Psychology Master’s Degree specializing in Counselling Psychology.

She is also:

Certified Global Career Counsellor She served as the High School Counsellor at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School Madurai for more than 10 years, providing counselling support to: Students, Parents,Government officials,Corporate professionals Private sector employees As a psychologist, she also works with business professionals and organizations, helping individuals create breakthroughs in their professional lives.

She has volunteered in numerous educational institutions as:
